Stanley Bartley and his wife were independent team above ABC from Simonson's expedition whose permit they were on and who provided transport from KTM and back, BC and ABC facilities. Mrs Bartley climbed to about halfway between C1 and C2 but had little strength and motivation. Stanley carried gear to C2 but never slept there; he too was not very strong and aggressive.
