Avalanching on North Face prevented climbing onto face as normally done above 7000m. 19th Oct night cloudy and light snowfall and 8:00 am on 20th heavy snowfall so down to C1. Planned on 20th for summit but had to abandon their plan. Left a tent at C3 for Russians. Climb now finished because very heavy new snowfall daily and therefore more and more dangerous.
Hafele was leader of Austrians on this expedition, but it was one expedition of Austrians and Germans.
