14 May made summit attempt but very windy and turned back at 8100m (they were Danuri, Nanda Prasad) returned to BC same day. 18 May Danuri and Nanda Prasad leave BC to C2, 19th to C4, 20th 11:00 pm left C4 and arrived 500m higher, very foggy and windy and back to C4. 21st May 1:00 am Danuri continued alone, caught up with Tinker's OTT summit party and they to top together; Danuri and Nanda Prasad slept at C4 that night and reached BC 23rd.

Kami Rita made his summit bid on 25th without any other member of this expedition [but see Todd Burleson/US expedition on return form]. Kami Rita claims fastest ascent from Col to summit.

Team organizers said Kami Rita was initially employed as high-altitude porter by Burleson's expedition but on 25 April took leave from US expedition to join Nepalese expedition as a member. This statement made at press conference 6/6/97, but Burleson's expedition insists he was always with their expedition as was Danuri.

Kami Rita arrived at C4 on 23rd, left camp for summit bid at midnight, bad winds very strong and he turned back after ascending 200m and returned to C4 on 24th morning. 24th 11:00 pm again left C4 for summit and succeeded at 6:15 am on 25th.
