C1 at normal site.

Started for top from C3 at 5:30 am - to yellow band and traversed to large snowfield on right side of face, Wuttke reached snow pyramid summit in clouds and snowfall, down a little and then slowly up but bad weather meant no photos of Everest and feared to lose descent route so turned down and descended directly using old fixed ropes: reached 100-200m from highest pk; returned C3 18:30 on 1 May. Kramer turned back 50m behind Wuttke and weather quickly got bad; and feared he would lose it in snowfall; frostbitten fingers from early morning when had to take off over gloves to change clothes.

Schulte left C3 on 4 May at 2:00 am, reached the summit at 10:00 am in clear weather (but 100-km/hr wind) and saw Everest; back in C3 at 4:00 pm. Summitted with other German (Kraus) team.

Team lost their leader when he died 20 April, but team had already discussed route of ABC and could see where others were climbing.

No success (very near successes) possible if BC Sirdar had not agreed to help carry load which he did as high as C3.
