Ascent of Bhrikuti in spring of 1982 by the Japanese is disputed by Rudolf Weber of the Austrian expedition that attempted the peak in autumn of 1982.

The Austrians claim that the Japanese climbed a lesser subsidiary peak.

Round Annapurna map completely wrong. Rivers and glaciers approached via Jomsom NE to Tangbe, Chhusang, Tangge (all NE from Jomsom); ESE via Dhechyang Khola to BC in a branch of this khola at 4450m at Damodar Kunda on 10th May. BC of mtn. at end of moraine; C1 5550m, 15th May, just below 400m icefall; C2 6030m, 17th May, above icefall in cwm. Above C2 is icewall to a col WNW of summit and thence route up W Ridge to shoulder and main peak which may be c6500m.

Summiters on 18, 19 and 21 May as per Ministry report except Tsuchiya went again to top on 21st May. Times correct of C2-top-BC.

Total 8 Japanese and 2 Nepalese members to summit.

Not difficult climb but long approach to Bhrikuti which understand is last one in group of many peaks of about 6500m.

This expedition's route easier on mountain, in fact perhaps only route.
