5 members left C3 on 7th Nov for top but Hofmeister had bronchitis and feet became numb from cold so turned back at 6400m while other 4 went to summit; were well acclimatized by trek through Rolwaling and Tashi Lapcha to Khumbu.
Were last team on mountain and especially 2 French teams on mountain just before Germans arrived and had put in fixed ropes, so with ropes in place, climb not difficult.
