BC at normal site at northwest end of Lake
High point on NE Spur.
23 Oct from BC going to make C1, biv 50m below C1 site because deep snow, very soft & 65 degrees slope meant danger of avalanches, cornice hanging above. Sirdar abandoned expedition before arrival BC (bad dreams and great fears) and therefore expedition lost 8 days finding BC plus desertion by half of porters. This then resulted in loss of morale of members. Constant avalanches down sides of ridge.
