1993 Gue Bong Alpine Club Cho Oyu & Xixabangma Expedition

9th Sept 11 pm started from C3 to summit. At 4 am 10th bivouacked in snow cave at 7500m and slept 3 hrs. All 3 again up about 8 am and Um, Serrano and Martinez went direct to top while Choi and Min took normal route going indirectly up. Um and Serrano on top at 8 pm on summit while other 2 Koreans on top 9:25 pm. All did long traverse to true summit. Very deep snow on mountain, very tiring and very time consuming. In descent, biv again at 7950m-8000m 10th Sept at 10:30-11:30 pm; next morning in C3; slept in C2 very tired. No other members attempted summit because of rigid schedule of Chinese of yak's arrival in 15th Sept.
Team went from BC to Nyalam and rested 2 days; then 8 members to Xixabangma while Choi and Kang to Kathmandu and Korea.
Kim Jae-Soo (not an official member of the expedition) remained after the others left for Xixabangma and summited illegally on 18 Sept (see CHOY-933-16).
