C2 (ABC) at North Col.
After 23 Sept climbing progress slowed by much new snowfall. This team helped New Zealanders with oxygen. After summit success of 6th, 2 members try for top, reached C3 on 6th but not on above because of wind, so climb finished.

In lodge in Marpha run by Mr. Bhakti is guest book in which a photo sent by Chamoux after his 6 Oct 93 Dhaulagiri I ascent shows him waving flag from false summit. 2 Japanese were him (not in photo) and Veikko saw all footprints stop here, Chamoux's and Japanese. From false top one can see ridge above but dangerous to go directly to it.
