Carcavilla was on Dhaulagiri I with Carlos Soria and was well acclimatised, hence he did not need any rotations on Everest. He decided on the spur of the moment to climb and flew to BC on 13/05.

Team left C4 at 9:30 pm on 19/05. Straightforward climb. They were almost alone on the route and just encountered a few people around the Hillary Step. They stayed about 10 minutes on the summit as it was very cold and windy. They descended to C2 where they arrived at 4 pm. On 21/05 back to BC.
