원정 개요

The Seven Summit Treks Everest expedition was a combination of several independent teams (1-4 climbers each). Seven Summit Treks provided transportation, base camp facilities and various levels of high altitude support (oxygen, high-altitude porters, tents, etc) as required and contracted for by each team. The individual accounts for each team are given below:

Summit team left C4 on 31 May at 8 pm, summited at 6:10-8:20 am, stayed 20 minutes, then descended to C2. Good conditions, windy about 50 km/h, too early, not many people.

Taken and used from C3 to summit to C2.

On summit day team started from C4 at 11 pm on 31/05. They met Arnold Coster’s team who were coming down at the Hillary Step. Spent about 20 minutes on summit and descended to C2, where they stayed the night. On 2nd June BC.

Oxygen:
Taken and used from above the Yellow Band (7700m) to summit to C3.

David Goettler (Germany)

Term: Abandoned due to climbers not feeling well.

On 30/05 Goettler left BC at 5 am and reached C2 at 9 am. He rested at C2 for the day and continued from C2 at 6 pm and reached C3 at 8 pm the same day. He felt good. He reached C4 at 5:30 am on 31/05, pitched a tent and waited for Kilian Jornet who set out from BC on 30/05 at 4 pm and reached C4 at 6 am on 31/05.

tents and gear in C2 for about 1h30

Both Göttler and Jornet were not feeling well and they seemed to be suffering from the same thing. Goettler thought it could have been a light sun stroke. Due to their physical condition, they both decided to descend to BC and abandon the expedition. Had they felt better they would have given it a go even though the winds were still quite high.

On 01/06 they trekked to Pheriche and took a helicopter to Kathmandu on 02/06.

BC set up: Goettler spent most of his time in Dingboche and Pheriche and only stayed 10 nights at the actual Everest BC. Jornet arrived in Dingboche on 27/04. He had been pre-acclimatising in a hypoxic tent and joined Goettler.

Summit team started from C4 at 9 pm on 11/05, summited at 8:30 am, stayed 10 minutes, then descended to C4 at 2 pm. Windy approaching summit and back to C4.

First summit team started from C4 at 9 pm on 30/05, summited at 6:30 am. Very windy.

Second summit team started from C4 at 8 pm on 31/05, summited at 6:30-9:00 am, then descended to C4. Clear sky, but a lot of wind.

Oxygen: Used from C3 to summit to C3 by members, from 7800m by Sherpas.

Summit team started from C4 at 9 pm on 22/05, summited at 9 am, stayed 30 minutes, then descended to C4 at 8 pm. Strong wind at night, around 50 km/h. Then when the sun rose, the wind stopped and amazing weather with no clouds.

Used from C3 to summit to C3.


Alex Chicon (Txikon) (Spain)

Term: Abandoned at 6440m due to illness.

Txikon felt bad at C2 and he suspected that he had contracted COVID-19 so he descended to BC on 09/05, where he was tested and the test came out negative. As he did not feel better, he took a helicopter back to Kathmandu on 10/05 where he tested positive a few days later. Txikon has a suspicion that the tests at BC are meant to come out negative.
