원정 개요

Seven Summit Treks Dhaulagiri expedition was a combination of several independent teams (1-2 climbers each). Seven Summits provided transportation, base camp facilities and various levels of high altitude support (oxygen, high-altitude porters, tents, etc) as required and contracted for by each team. The individual accounts for each team are given below:


Giorgio Masetti Zannini (Italy)

Appr: Heli from Takam to Italian BC, then trekked to BC

Term: Abandoned due to covid outbreak at base camp.

Masetti reached 6200m on 17/04, then turned back due to bad weather.

Masetti had strong bronchitis and cough and thought that going down a few days was a good idea. Then the covid situation in Nepal was heavy and as he knew the gov't was about to close the skies, so took the first available flight to return. He had negative pcr in Katmandu, but was found positive at my arrival at home.

Dhaulagiri was not in its best condition as weather was often bad and lot of snow was a serious obstacle. He was hit by a small avalanche and stonefall on his way from C1 to BC on 29/04.


Adrian Laza (Romania)

Term: Abandoned due to covid outbreak at base camp.

Arrived in base camp on May 1.
May 4 Laza tested Nurbu Sherpa as positive for covid; he left base camp on May 6
by heli. Laza got another sherpa (Dawa Sherpa).
Laza and Dawa reached C1 on May 7.
Dawa Sherpa did not feel good (chest pain and short breath).
Laza tested Dawa as positive for covid (he had about 30 covid tests with him and
tested regularly the porters and Sherpas).
Laza decided to abandon the expedition and returned to base camp on May 8.
Left to KTM by heli on May 9.

A lot of snow in all mountain. Some parts with avalanche danger (wind slabs). Weather...typical Dhaulagiri. Clear mormings, afternoon snow. Big snowfalls.
